One of the most recognizable characters from horror films, Jason Voorhees, will be making a return, and sooner than you think now that a new director has been chosen.
In 2009, a remake of the long running Friday the 13th franchise that stared Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki and Danielle Panabaker and received mostly negative reviews from critics, but horror fans flocked to the film earning 91 million dollars worldwide on a 19 million dollar budget. Immediately the franchise was expected to continue with a sequel, however many attempts were made and none of the rumored plans progressed.
When the rights of the film series went back to Paramount last year, the film became a work in progress once again. No official word had been made until this week when The Wrap reported the series has a new director, David Bruckner.
Bruckner is known for directing a short story in the horror film V/H/S that compiles multiple short horror segments into one film.
The newest Jason film will not be a sequel, but instead a reboot to the franchise. Michael Bay will return to produce along with the previous 2009 film’s producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
