Forty years, can you believe that? In the last forty years, NBC’s megahit TV sketch show has seen some of today’s most legendary comedians move through their halls – from Bill Murray to Adam Sandler to Martin Short Eddie Murphy. Hell, even Robert Downey Jr. had a brief tenure on the show.
Now NBC has announced that they are planning a massive three-hour special to commemorate the show’s four-decade milestone.
The gargantuan special will air next February, and will feature the current cast performing side-by-side to past cast members that made the show as legendary as it is today, along with special guests and musical performers.
No one has officially been announced, but we can bet that the likes of Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, Paul Simon, Justin Timberlake, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will certainly drop by.
Performers will be announced in the coming months, but who can resist the idea of our favorites returning to the stage once again? SNL did a similar reunion for the 25th anniversary in 1999, but this one will no doubt eclipse it in scope and hilarity. We can’t wait!
The special will air on February 15th next year.
