Michael Pineda, starting pitcher for the New York Yankees, has been caught using pine tar on his neck!

The Yankees star was pitching on Wednesday night’s game against the Red Sox, when Red Sox manager, John Farrell, spoke to the home plate umpire. After their conversation, the home plate umpire went out to the mound to talk to Pineda. After checking his glove, hands, back and finally his neck, where they found the pine tar, Pineda was ejected from the game.
Pineda has been suspended for 10 games. Earlier in the season, Pineda was suspected of having pine tar on his hand, but no investigation was launched. The funny thing is, they were playing the Red Sox when that happened too.
Pine Tar is commonly used in baseball on the bats, as it helps batters to keep a good grip on the bat when they swing. Pine tar is also used by pitchers, although it is illegal and prohibited by the rules of the MLB.
New nickname for Pineda? I think “Pine-ada.” Let us know your thoughts in the comments section!
