Saturday evening two men in Paris ordered a car from the service Uber. Once their driver arrived, he asked the men some questions and, once he heard that they had been at a gay club, refused to give them a ride. The driver reportedly said “I don’t take gays” and he drove away, leaving the men stranded.

They tried to get another ride from Uber, but the same driver turned up again to pick them up. The men took a picture of his license plates to report them, the driver then threatened the men and they ran back towards the club for safety.

The two men posted their experience on Twitter, wanting to alert Uber about their driver. The tweets have been translated from their original French.

One of the men, Julien Leo Pasktier, tweeted: “No I don’t take gays. @Uber_Paris thank you to your driver plate number CSM759DM3 5:57am who refused our trip because it wasn’t up to his taste.”

Uber tweeted Lucas back: “Luca, this unacceptable behavior is absolutely not representative of the spirit of Uber. The driver has been suspended.” Their second tweet was: “I can confirm the driver will be fired. We don’t joke around with this.”
