Ellen Page talked about coming out on The Ellen Show this week.

The Juno star came out as a lesbian in a very heartwarming, tear-jerking speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s ‘Time To Thrive’ conference for LGBTQ youth on February 14th, and hasn’t spoken about it in much detail until now.

In the interview with Ellen DeGeneres Page said she was excited to finally come out to the whole world saying, “‘I was just so ready to do it, and so excited to do it.  So, it was a combination of such thrill to be at a place in my life where I was able to do that, and grateful to have that moment”

Page also expressed her admiration to DeGeneres telling the host that she was grateful to her, because she “did it at a time when it was much harder and much scarier.”

DeGeneres told the young star, “I am so proud of you for coming out and I’m happy for you, I know what a scary thing that is… It’s a scary thing to verbalize, to say it out loud.”

We all saw just how nervous Ellen Page was when she was giving that incredible speech, and she was trying to keep her emotions together telling DeGeneres, “I think my biggest fear in doing it was having a panic attack, quite frankly.”

What was heartbreaking in the interview was when Page mentioned that before coming out she felt ashamed because she was keeping it secret and that she felt isolated by the LGBT community saying, “It’s toxic.  You think you’re at a place where you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m happy to be gay, I’m so comfortable being gay, I love being gay.’ Honestly, it wasn’t until making that choice and doing that speech when I realized that, no, I was carrying a tremendous amount of shame and guilt for not being out, and felt isolated from the LGBT community.”

You can see that Page is more happier now and we at PopWrapped are so proud of her for finally having the courage to be true to herself and also that her speech helped thousands of others find the strength to come out.
