Marc Webb’s Spidey sequel certainly hasn’t disappointed with overseas profits since debuting earlier this month.

Going into the weekend, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earned about $155 million internationally, smashing records in Indonesia and Malaysia. It was also the biggest opening day ever for an American movie in India and Vietnam.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Jamie Foxx, the film opened in the U.S. yesterday (May 2), and earned an impressive $35.5 million. Sony predicts the sequel to rake in nearly $100 million for the entire opening weekend, which is pretty realistic if it maintains about $30 million throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Interestingly enough, The Amazing Spider-Man earned the same amount during its opening day back in 2012, a phenomenon that Forbes attributes to the times of year. The predecessor opened on a Tuesday during the summer, as opposed to the sequel’s opening on a Friday during the school year.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 still fell short of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the other major superhero sequel dominating theaters at the moment.
