Our beloved Sally Field has received the 2,524th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, May 5th. For the unveiling in front of the Hollywood Wax Museum, Field was accompanied by her Norma Rae costar, Beau Bridges, and umbrella-toting gal pal, Jane Fonda.

With a career spanning almost FIFTY years, Sally was sure to remember the humble start she had, giving guidance to those looking for such coveted longevity in the entertainment industry.

“To have a long term career you have to want what you want more than you think you’re capable of wanting. you have to constantly step aside of anything having to do with ego or entitlement and just head for the work wherever it might be.”

The two-time Academy Award winner proclaimed her gratitude to Sony Pictures for being given such an expensive commemoration. From “people you may not recognize (their name) but look them up and realize they had a moment in time” to Henry Fonda and Jimmy Stewart, Sally noted the company she will be in on the Walk and the exposure it will bring to her career for years to come. Spanning Gidget to The Amazing Spider-Man franchise and everything in between (Mrs. Doubtfire, Steel Magnolias, Brothers & Sisters to name a few of my faves), Field’s body of work could never be forgotten and this acknowledgment comes as no surprise.

Watch her acceptance speech and interview below for the full effect!
