A Slight Trick of the Mind is directed by Bill Condon, with actress Laura Linney (from The Big C) starring alongside McKellen as Sherlock’s housekeeper, Mrs. Munro. The film goes back and forth between decades, depicting Sherlock Holmes at both the age of 63 and 91, as he is working on his final case. McKellen and Condon are reuniting for this project, previously having worked together in 1998 on Gods and Monsters.

McKellen is widely regarded as one of the most illustrious actors in the world. He is a two-time Academy Award nominee, and the recipient of every major theatrical award in the United States and Great Britain, as well as being the recipient of a Golden Globe Award, a Tony Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and six Laurence Oliver Awards, among other noteworthy accolades.
