The CW Picks Up Four New Pilots Including iZombie And The Flash

It’s a new era as the CW has picked up four pilots for the network, including the much anticipated Arrow spin-off The Flash starring Glee’s Warbler Grant Gustin as Bary Allen/Flash according to E!News.

The series created by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns focuses on the story of Barry Allen as he goes around Central City as the hero The Flash. The show also stars Jesse L. Martin as Detective West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West, Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon and Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells. The Original Flash star John Wesley Shipp will also star as a unnamed recurring role.

The network as also picked up as series by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas titled iZombie; a comic book published by Dc Comics Vertigo imprint. The shows stars, Rose Mclver who’ve many have seen on ABC’s Once Upon a Time as Tinker Bell. The show will also star Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill), David Anders (The Vampire Diaries/Once Upon a Time) Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings) and Alexandra Krosney (Last Man Standing). The premise of the show involves a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. Each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.

CW has also picked up The Messengers, which starts Diogo Morado, Joel Courtney and Sofia Black-D’Elia created by Teen Wolf Writer Eoghan O’Donnell.  The concept of the show involves a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from an energy pulse when a mysterious object crashes down to earth. The group awakens to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending Apocalypse.

The last series is titled Jane the Virgin; based on a Venezuelan telenovela starring Gina Rodriguez, Jaime Camil, Yael Groblas, Brett Dier and Ryan Devlin. A series of surprising and unforeseen events causes a hard working, religious young Latina woman to be accidentally artificially inseminated

One series that didn’t succeed in earning a series order was the Supernatural spin-off that already gave a glimpse as a back-door pilot episode of Supernatural’s current season.

The CW is set to have their Upfronts on Thursday, May 15 in New York where they will officially announce their lineup for the new season.
