Ravenous fans will be able to chow down on more Hannibal. NBC has renewed the psychological thriller for another season. The fate of the show’s third year had been up in the air due to only average ratings. Despite widespread critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base, the show’s gore and graphic violence were hard to swallow for many mainstream viewers.
NBC seems to have faith in Hannibal’s potential for viewership growth. Network heads have noted that the innovative and risk-taking Horror series brings in the youngest audience of any 10 PM broadcast drama.
Accolades also continue to pour in for the show’s actors. Leads Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen were nominated for IGN awards this year and critics also took note of performances from several guest stars including Michael Pitt and Gina Torres.
