Rumors Are Flying: Alfonso Caurón Is In Deep Talks For ‘Fantastic Beasts’

Rumors are beginning to swirl that critically acclaimed director, Alfonso Caurón, is deep in talks to lead the highly anticipated film Fantastic Beasts. The film is the work of JK Rowling and it is essentially a spinoff from the Harry Potter franchise.

Caurón has already had some experience with the magical world of Harry Potter:  before he directed the Oscar nominated film Gravity, he directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabam, the second film in the Potter franchise.

When asked last November if he had any interest in directing Fantastic Beasts, Cuarón responded: “Akzaban was fun to make, and when I did it, I was invited to do the next one, but I didn’t want to overstay the welcome, because it was such an experience. But now? Why not? I do have stuff that I want to do [next], but a J.K. thing…”
