As if Macklemore hasn’t been controversial enough.
But this time the rapper is feeling heat in a not so praising way.
Macklemore surprised his fans with a performance in his hometown of Seattle at the Experience Music Project Museum on May 16th to help celebrate the debut of a new exhibition. Shrouded in a black wig and beard with a prominent ‘witch’s nose’, he performed his hit song “Thrift Shop.”
Apparently, many individuals mistook his costume as a ‘Jew’, and now Macklemore is feeling the backlash as he has caused quite the uproar with his getup.
The rapper has long apologized for the disastrous costume by stating that it was simply thrown together so he could throw off the audience. He had no intention of mocking the Jewish community and felt that he was misunderstood.
Even after he drafted the word “anti-Semetic” [sic] as part of his apology letter in an ode to apologize to the world, one might assume that perhaps the guy really is clueless and really meant no harm.
