Godzilla has found some competition in Argentina. 150 bones from the largest dinosaur on earth were recently found in the La Flecha desert in Argentina by a paleontologist from the Museum of Paleontology, Egidio Feruglio. Scientists believe that the dinosaur was 130 feet long, 65 feet tall, and weighed in at a whopping 85 tons. So basically it’s as tall as a 7-story building, as long as a big yacht, and weighs as much as 14 elephants.
Scientist believe that the remains may be from an undiscovered species of titanosaur, which was an herbivore that lived during the Late Cretacious period.
The Museum’s news release stated that the experts pieced together 7 specimens of titanosaurs from the remains that were found. They also thing that the dinosaurs died together from either dehydration or being stuck in the mud. They also discovered over 60 teeth from other carnivorous dinosaurs and attempted to unearth their remains.
The researches haven’t given the big beastie a name yet, but they said that “it will be named describing its magnificence and in honor to both the region and the farm owners who alerted us about the discovery.”
