One Direction member, Niall Horan gathered a bevy of stars for a charity football match at the King Power stadium in Leicester this Monday. The participants are an impressive line-up of pop stars, actors, and professional football players. Horan who underwent knee surgery a few months back have had to sit out playing for the game, instead he took on the role of manager for his team, he was assisted by Film and television, director, Ben Winston. His team included fellow band mates, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson; actors, James Corden, John Bishop, Jack Whitehall, and Jay Duffy; pop stars, Ronan Keating and Olly Murs; and football stars, Robbie Fowler, Mark Wright, Matt Le Tissier, Terry Phelan, Ian Taylor, Phil Neville, David James, and Dean Saunders.

Morgan chose to fill his ranks with more athletes than Horan’s, which included Footballers, Conrad Logan, Muzzy Izet, Dean Holdsworth, Kevin Cooper, Robert Pires, Jason McAteer, and John Aldridge, they were joined by former Cricketer Michael Vaughan and Rugby referee Steve Walsh. The non-athletes were composed of actor, Danny O’Carroll; pop stars, Keith Duffy and Shayne Ward, and Piers Morgan’s own son Spencer Morgan.
photo courtesy of Wenn.comHarry Styles provided some of the most memorable moments in the match when he scored a surprising goal, and attempted to pull down Piers Morgan’s trousers. Despite all this both teams scored an even 1-1, the match was decided by a penalty shot that went to Morgan’s team.
photo courtesy of Wenn.comThe past few days have been big for Niall Horan, as he took centre stage in One Direction’s three-night sold-out concert in Croke Park Stadium in Dublin, where his fellow Irish gave him the biggest screams. It was also pretty emotional for him since the venue is where he auditioned for the X-factor. He almost didn’t make it at that point, until guest judge Katy Perry let him through but warned him to ‘not let her down’. One Direction was later formed in the X-factor and the rest is history. Katy Perry would tweet him ‘you didn’t let me down’ when 1D’s single, hit no 1 in the US.
Horan was also voted favorite 1D member by UK listeners when they performed in BBC Radio 1’s big weekend last Saturday in Glasgow.
All proceeds for the Football match would go to the Irish Autism Action, which is based on Horan’s hometown of Mullingar, the UK charity Heart and Minds Challenge, and Leicester City Foxes Foundation.
