Hot on the heels of Coldplay’s latest album, Ghost Stories, being the #1 best-selling debut of last week, it’s now been unveiled that the British alt. rockers have topped the yearly Billboard charts!
That’s right, the “Sky Full of Stars”, well, stars have done and done it again with what is their greatest success to date. They’ve sold 383,000 copies sold within their debut week, which also happens to be the most album any artist has been able to sell in any given week throughout the entire year.
Coldplay had beaten out stiff competition in The Black Keys, Brantley Gilbert, Phillip Phillips, and even Michael Jackson himself to receive the honor. They’ll face further competition as the year progresses when big-time names such as Lana Del Rey, Ed Sheeran, and 5 Seconds of Summer release their LPs, but for now, the boys are sitting pretty.
