The time has finally come!

The Madden Brothers have released the first single of their (recently re-titled) upcoming album, Greetings from California. Entitled “We Are Done,” the song debuted  On Air with Ryan Seacrest last Friday.

The two-sided album has “little intros” for each side, according to Benji, making the album a “listening experience” instead of a “singles experience.” Songs representative of Side Two are “Good Gracious, Abby” and “California Rain,” which are co-written by Pharrell. “We Are Done” is representative of Side One.

“There’s no Good Charlotte anymore, is that right?” Seacrest asked.

“Good Charlotte will always be,” Joel responds. “It’s in our DNA, but it’s the Madden Brothers now, so we just decided to break off and do this new thing. We had to spend almost three years trying to find our sound … and get inspired.”

He continues, “I thank God every day when I wake up in LA, and that’s where we got inspiration for the whole record… It’s my family, it’s ever single day with the kids, it’s all good.”

The new sound reflects a groovy 60’s theme, with “Choral Rebellion” in the style of fun.’s “We Are Young.” It somehow adds a mixture of “Beautiful Place” from Good Charlotte’s Good Morning Revival, “We Believe” from The Chronicles of Life and Death, and my personal GC favorite, “Standing Ovation” from Cardiology.

“After working on the record for so long, we’re excited to finally get some music out,” Joel shares.

Seacrest approves, saying, “Waiting it out and taking your time has paid off in this case.”

Look for Greetings from California on October 7th and download “We Are Done” today on iTunes.
