Director Darren Aronofsky has helmed projects such as Noah, Black Swan, and Requiem for a Dream. While his work for the silver screen has been well received, the director has decided to lend his talents to the small screen, more specifically HBO.

HBOwatch recently revealed Aronofsky’s involvement in a new series entitled MaddAddam, based on Margaret Atwood’s sci-fi novel trilogy Oryx and Crake, Year of the Flood, and MaddAddam.

Deadline described the series as “set in the mid-21st century in a world where corporations have taken over for governments and the genetic modification of organisms is perversely ubiquitous. It centers on the events before and after a Waterless Flood that wipes out almost all of the world’s population and follows an extensive cast of characters, including those responsible for the apocalypse and those struggling to survive it.”

Brandi-Ann Milbrandt, Aronofsky’s fiancé, will serve as an executive producer on the series, along with Aronofsky and Protozoa Pictures president Ari Handel. Atwood will serve as a consulting producer.
