Nintendo fans clamoring for new game announcements won’t have to wait long, since E3 is virtually right around the corner, but for those into the rumor mill, try this one on for size!
In a recent photo purportedly leaked from Nintendo’s E3 demo booths, Super Smash Bros. models are shown decorating all of the booths’ visible sides… except for one.
Right upfront is a booth sprinkled with traditional Super Mario Bros. designs from the NES era, with a Wii U stylus deciding where to place a Piranha Plant on a classic brickscape. The words “Mario Maker” are placed above this neat scene, hinting at a soon-to-be-announced Wii U release of the same name, perhaps even on the eShop.
It’s not hard to imagine just what Mario Maker would be if true; both its name and the image associated with it suggest a level editor featuring original NES sprite sets. The question here is if other titles such as Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 will get in on the action, or if it’ll just be an original recipe type of affair.
Rawmeatcowboy of GoNintendo tried getting fans to debunk this mysterious image, but so far, there’s no concrete “yes” or “no” to this question.
What about you? Do you think Mario Maker is real or fake?
