Tom Hiddleston’s publicist has confirmed that the actor extraordinaire will portray Country music legend Hank Williams in a forthcoming biopic. Hiddleston himself has also confirmed it on Twitter:

Hiddlestoners who are in love with the multi-talented British performer’s musical prowess as well as his acting skills will also be thrilled to know that Tom will be doing all the actual singing in the film! That means fans will be treated to Hiddleston crooning out classics such as “Your Cheatin’ Heart”, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”, “Lost Highway” and “Hey, Good Lookin’.”
The movie, titled I Saw The Light, will be based on the Colin Escott biography of Williams, which chronicles the musician’s life of career triumphs and personal woes culminating in a tragic young death at age 29.
Production on I Saw The Light will begin in October in Louisiana.
The highly-sought-after Hiddleston just wrapped shooting on the Gothic thriller Crimson Peak and is scheduled to begin filming on Ben Wheatley’s dystopian drama High Rise in July.
