Is He Going Down? Pitbull Sued Over Hit Song ‘Timber’

Lee Oskar, Keri Oskar, and Greg Errico are suing Pitbull with the claim that he sampled from their song “San Francisco Bay” for his hit “Timber”.

Musicians Lee Oskar, Keri Oskar, and Greg Errico are suing Cuban-American rapper Pitbull, claiming that he stapled one of their songs for one of his newest tunes “Timber,” featuring Kesha.

They filed their claim in Manhattan on Friday (June 20), alleging that “Timber”‘s harmonica player Paul Harrington was told to mimic Lee Oskar’s melody from “San Francisco Bay,” released in the 1970s. According to copyright regulations, this makes “copious use of the original melody and harmonica riff” and is an act of infringement.

“Timber” spent significant time in the number one spot on both American and UK music charts.

Pitbull will have to pay $3 million in damages if the court rules against him.
