Has Lana Del Rey been creating her own summertime sadness?
The Ultraviolence singer has been stuck in the media for a few days – not just for the release of her chart-topping album, which debuted at number one on the billboard charts and her recent performance at the Glastonbury festival in England, but also because of her infamous interview with British newspaper, The Guardian. If you’ve been keeping up with the story, you know that Tim Jonze, the man who interviewed Del Rey, claimed that Lana stated she wished she was dead already.
Well.
That was enough to capture the attention of Frances Bean Cobain (daughter of the late Kurt Cobain) who sent a stream of tweets to Lana, reminding her that death of musicians was not something to glamorize, let alone romanticize.
Del Rey has since reached out to Cobain on twitter, writing, “It’s all good. He [Jonze] was asking me a lot about your dad. I said I liked him because he was talented, not because he died young. The other half of what I said wasn’t really related to the people he mentioned.”
She even went on to agree with Frances, reassuring her, “I don’t find that part of music glam either.”
Del Rey has since deleted the tweets (as she always seems to do) and we’ve yet to hear a response from Frances regarding Lana’s latest comments.
