During the TCA Press Tour for the upcoming CW series, The Flash, producer Greg Berlanti confirmed a notable comic book villain would appear as a rival to the DC speedster. Prison Break actor Wentworth Miller has been selected for the role of Captain Cold, known for his freeze gun and association with the villainous group, He Rogues–he also has a knack for complicating things for Flash.

Just in case you aren’t very aware of the character from comic books and find yourself wondering how much of rival he can be, you should be aware that he was involved in the death of the youngest Flash incarnation, Bart Allen. Captain Cold and the Rogues are slated to appear in the series’ fourth episode. Fellow producer Andrew Kreisberg claims the premiere episode will also give comic fans a glimpse at an empty cage, insinuating the telepathic villain Gorilla Grodd will also pop up at some point down the road.

While DC chief creative officer and executive producer Geoff Jones said The Flash will use comic continuity, he confirmed the DC films will serve as an entirely different world. Sorry, folks, don’t expect the CW stars to reprise their superhero roles in the upcoming Justice League movie.
