Agents of SHIELD is welcoming a new member to its cast: Kyle MacLachlan.

The Twin Peaks actor is joining the team in a recurring role as Skye’s father.
Skye, played by Chloe Bennett, has been shrouded in mystery throughout season one, with her superhuman origins kept secret from the audience and team. Her father will only be showing up briefly in the finale.
MacLachlan is most famous for his role in Twin Peaks as Special Agent Dale Cooper, but has also starred in Desperate Housewives and How I Met Your Mother.
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD‘s next season is looking to be bigger and better than it’s debut, with several new additions to the already brilliant cast, with the likes of Lucy Lawless and Simon Kassianides playing a SHIELD agent and a “right hand man,” respectively.
The show returns to ABC on Septermber 23. Channel 4 will air the show in the UK, though exact dates have yet to be confirmed.
