Robin Williams’ Cause Of Death Confirmed; UK TV Airs Movie Tribute

After Robin Williams’ tragic passing, BBC and Sky, networks of UK TV, are stopping their normal programming to bring their viewers a movies tribute marathon

News of Robin Williams’ death came in like a hailstorm yesterday afternoon. One of the world’s most revered, well-loved, and respected actors and comedians of all-time passed away seemingly out of the blue; and, as it turns out, the rumors were true: it was a suicide.

The news was confirmed by Keith Boyd, the assistant chief deputy coroner of Marin County.

In light of this tragic news, UK TV stations BBC and Sky are rescheduling their usual programming in order to broadcast many of his films in tribute.

The tribute begins as early as tonight on Sky1 with airings of Jumanji at 8pm and Awakenings at 10, followed by a full-on Sky Movies Greats weekend blowout consisting of AladdinJumanji, and Mrs. Doubtfire on Saturday and Night At The MuseumHookDead Poets Society, and Awakenings on Sunday.

Meanwhile, BBC One will be playing Good Will Hunting on August 14 at 10:35pm, with BBC Two airing Insomnia on August 16 at 11pm.

Robin Williams will forever be remembered as one of the world’s most prolific actors and impeccable hearts that had ever lived. Just watching the penultimate “park bench scene” from the aforementioned Good Will Hunting affirms both of those things. Williams’ monologue is impeccable — forever a major silver screen moment.
