Calling all Simpsons fans: starting today, August 21st, every single episode of the smash hit series will be shown on FXX!
Basic cable newcomer FXX will celebrate being the new, exclusive, syndication home of The Simpsons by airing every episode (and the movie) ever made, back-to-back-to-back, with no repeats. The show will be running throughout a 12 day marathon, showing all 552 episodes and the movie.
An upfront presentation held in New York on Wednesday found FC Networks’ chief executive, Jon Landgraf stating, “It will be the longest continuous marathon in the history of television.”
FXX is clearly excited about adding The Simpsons to their lineup as the marketing push to advertise the marathon has been huge. There was a lot of buzz created at this years San Diego Comic-Con for the marathon, with the hashtag ‘#EverySimpsonsEver’ being hard to ignore throughout the event.
The channel also hosted many Simpsons themed events across Comic-Con such as Homers Dome, which immersed visitors in a digital mapping experience and a demonstration of the “Simpsons World” which is a digital and online environment. Other attractions were Marge’s Sweet Station, serving free blue cotton candy, and the Kwik-E-Race game, where fans could win prizes.
Needless to say, the marketing push was a good idea, bringing teens and adults together to remind them of how fun The Simpsons can be, and reminding them of how much they like the show.
The marathon will be shown from 10 a.m. Thursday until the close of Labor Day. Grab as many snacks as you can, sit back and enjoy! This Simpsons marathon is sure to be a trip down memory lane, and is bound to be (Mr. Burns voice) excellent…
