‘Sherlock’ Showrunner Steven Moffat Talks Emmy Wins And Season 4 Plans

Sherlock Creator Steven Moffat is excited about the series’ three Emmy wins, and is looking forward to revealing the surprises he has in store for Season 4.

Steven Moffat said that season four of our beloved Sherlock will be better than ever.

And ‘better’ by Moffat’s terms, of course, means more devastating. (Something which us Sherlock fans know a little bit about!)

“We practically reduced our cast to tears by telling them the plan. Mark [Gatiss] and myself are so excited with what we’ve got coming up, probably more excited than we’ve ever been about Sherlock…Honestly, I think we can [top the last season],” he said during the Emmys.

Sherlock took home three Emmy Awards at last night’s (August 25) ceremony. Benedict Cumberbatch, Sherlock himself, won for Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie, his first Emmy Award ever. Martin Freeman, Sherlock’s friend John Watson, won for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie, and their third award came in the category Writing For A Miniseries, Movie, or a Dramatic Special for the series three finale, “His Last Vow”.

“We were just starting to think that that phase of our lives was dying down, because as shows get older they don’t win as often – just like people. We’re delighted that we’ve made it here and hopefully this gets more people watching. That’d be great,” Moffat said of the Emmy Awards.
