If you are a fan of the film adaptation of comic book series Kick-Ass, this is less than stellar news unfortunately.

Actress Chloe Grace moretz recently spoke with Digital Spy, where the starlet divulged that she doesn’t think she will be returning to her role of fan favorite character Hit Girl.

Moretz explains, “Sadly, I think I’m done with the character, Hit-Girl was a very cool character, but I don’t think there will be any more movies. You make these movies for the fanboys, but nowadays everyone seems to pirate them rather than watch them in the movie theater.”

Kick-Ass 2 ended its box office run racking up around $60 million, doubling its $28 million budget, however box office demand determines sequels and it became clear it wouldn’t be an easy obstacle to overcome.

Moretz added, “Kick-Ass 2 was one of the number-one pirated movies of the year, but that doesn’t help us because we need box office figures. We need to prove to the distributors that we can make money from a third and a fourth movie—but because it didn’t do so well, we can’t make another one. If you want more than one movie, everyone has to go and see movies at the cinema. It’s all about the numbers in the theater.”

It’s very displeasing to here that people didn’t give the franchise the attention it deserved, with fans now unsure of how the franchise was set to end. On the flip side, by the end of the second film the lead characters had some semblance of a happy life, so at least that can’t be taken away.

Hopefully in the future people can go support the films they love, to give back to the talented individuals who make it possible for us to enjoy.
