Yes, your confusion is justified. The two married 33 years ago, in July of 1981 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in England.
The private cake collector bought the slice online from an establishment in Los Angeles, still in the original wax paper and box, and he was warned not to try and eat it. I would say that’s common sense, but people have done dumber things, haven’t they?
There are quite a few cake collectors like this one in Britain, apparently, and some have even purchased baked goods from weddings held as far back as the 1800s.
