Molly Glynn, known for her recurring role as a doctor on the TV series “Chicago Fire” died when a powerful storm toppled a tree on her during a bike ride.

Molly Glynn, known for her recurring role as a doctor on the TV series Chicago Fire died when a powerful storm toppled a tree on her during a bike ride.

Glynn was riding her bike with her husband Joe Foust on the Forest Preserve Trail in the Erickson Woods outside of Chicago when the accident occurred. As they were seeking safety from the storm, the tree slammed into Glynn.

Her husband called 911 about the accident on Friday. CBS News reported the Northfield Assistant Fire Chief Tom Burke said that the bicycle path was too narrow to accommodate the fire truck and ambulance dispatched to treat her, and that paramedics had to hike a half-mile to reach her.

Glynn was quickly rushed to the hospital soon after.

“Friends, this is the darkest day of my life. Things will never be the same. Molly got hit by a falling tree while we were biking. At hospital now. Prognosis is grim,” Foust wrote on his Facebook when the accident occurred.

By Saturday, the NorthShore Evanston Hospital confirmed Glynn died from her injuries. She was 46.

“I couldn’t save her. I couldn’t save her. She’s gone,” Foust wrote. “Things will never be the same.”

Glynn had roles on the TV series Chicago Fire, Boss and Early Edition. She was a regular in the Chicago theater scene, with at least 17 roles since 2005 for such companies as Steppenwolf, Chicago Shakespeare, Next,Northlight and Writers Theater, where she was most recently in the cast of the national premiere of The Dance of Death.
