Apple has done something to irritate their users…again? Say it ain’t so!

Irish band U2 have been Apple ambassadors since the company first launched iTunes, so obviously the best way for Apple to show its appreciation is to automatically install their latest album, Songs of Innocence, for every iTunes user in 119 countries.

If only Apple users agreed.

They’re either straight-up annoyed that it happened without their permission, or just aren’t U2 fans. Either way, the general consensus is…”GET IT OFF MY ITUNES”.

Then there’s the implied security issue at hand here, which Twitter user @MezMerrett makes a good point on:

“If Apple can forcefully download a U2 album onto everyone’s phone, imagine what else they can do and see.”

Some were driven to hilariously extreme irritation, like @MattRichardson3:

“Everyone’s scared of MI6 and GCHQ accessing our phones, but I’d rather that than be forcibly given a U2 album.”

Here are some helpful technical instructions, courtesy of Design&Trend, in case you’re close to tossing your beloved Apple product out the window:

“The album was distributed to iTunes users via iCloud, which means it appears in the Music app on devices, but isn’t physically stored on the computer, phone or tablet until it has been downloaded, writes The Daily Mail.

If it has been downloaded, users can swipe to the left on each song and click Delete.

To hide the album from iTunes, users must log into their account, find the album and click the cross in the top left-hand corner of the cover image.

The album may also appear if the phone has the auto-download feature enabled.

To turn this off, go to Settings, iTunes & App Store, and disable Automatic Downloads.”

Don’t be offended, U2, you guys are getting a pretty impressive amount of free publicity!
