Dawn Garrigus , an 11 year old Star Trek fan from Statesboro Georgia, who also suffers from a life-threatening illness , wanted only to attend Dragon Con 2014 in Atlanta two weeks ago.

It was a simple request, something which the Make-A-Wish-Foundation was more than happy to make happen.

I’m pretty sure Dawn was already happy with what she thought she got, but things just got better when she also got a one-on-one surprise meeting with none other than Captain Picard – Patrick Stewart himself!

“I was shy at first, not sure what to say or talk about, but he kept talking to me,” Dawn told The Huffington Post. “I felt like I was on the Enterprise talking to the captain. And suddenly, I was OK.”

Photographer James Barker, was able to capture a beautiful moment between the two, as Steward embraced the young girl. He shared the lovely picture on his facebook page. The happiness seen in the photo could warm a battle hardened Klingon’s heart.

Dawn suffers from Mitochondrial disease a debilitating illness that causes, muscle weakness, blindness, seizures and organ failure. There is no known cure for the disease, but at the very least for that one precious moment, this young girl was able to fulfill a dream, and was able to embrace one of her heroes.
