Apple Confirms Record-Breaking 4 Million iPhone 6 Pre-Orders In First 24 Hours

Each and every year, the hype surrounding the new iPhone iteration seems to intensify, and if the figures that have been released this morning are anything to go by, then there’s no signs of the iPhone slowing down.

Prior to the announcement of the iPhone 6, and the iPhone 6 Plus last week, there were a plethora of rumours surrounding the new devices, and it seems fans are more than happy, as Apple has confirmed record-breaking pre-orders!

In a press release issued today (Monday, September 15), Apple has confirmed that there were a record number of first day pre-orders for the iPhone 6, and the iPhone 6 Plus, which topped 4 million in 24 hours.

Demand for the new iPhone has exceeded Apple’s initial expectations, so some fans are going to be a little disappointed come release day on Friday, September 19. Those who pre-ordered via the official Apple website on Friday will have slowly witnessed the ‘Expected Delivery Date’ dwindle by the minute, and it currently stands at around 3-4 weeks.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook said: “iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do. Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday”.

Apple fans in countries such as the US, Australia, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore will be able to get their hands on the new devices as of this Friday. However, stock isn’t going to last forever, and you may find yourself waiting a few days.

The new iPhone devices feature some of the biggest advancements to the iPhone in recent years. Both phones feature a larger screen, which seems to be the selling point for many, with the iPhone 6 sporting a 4.7 inch Retina HD display. The iPhone 6 Plus is in a league of its own as far as Apple iPhones go, as it features a massive 5.5 inch screen.
