Hulu announced a new Original: a historical fiction thriller from Stephen King, based on his best-seller, 11/22/63.
Now, some of you may recognize this date as the day that President Kennedy was assassinated.
The novel, which you should definitely check out (it’s on my list!), is about a high school teacher who happens upon a portal of sorts, and travels back to 1963 to stop the assassination. His intentions are threatened by many factors, including Lee Harvey Oswald, love, and the past. The books begs the reader to ask, “What if?”
The series, which will be a nine-hour event, is to be directed by J.J. Abrams who said:
I’ve been a fan of Stephen King since I was in junior high school. The chance to work with him at all, let alone on a story so compelling, emotional, and imaginative, is a dream. We are thrilled to be working with Hulu on this very special project.
There’s no word yet on when the series will go into production or when it will be released, but one thing is for sure: with a team like King, Abrams, and Bad Robot Productions, the series is going to be something you won’t want to miss.
