‘Tis the season for vampires and Dracula Untold, Hollywood’s latest spin on the world’s most famous bloodsucker, will bare its fangs for U.S. audiences starting this weekend.

In this variation on the legend, filmmakers have mixed some history into the world of fantasy. Dracula Untold takes us back to Vlad Tepes, the ruthless Romanian ruler who inspired Bram Stoker’s iconic Dracula novel. As he did in real life, Vlad The Impaler takes on the Ottoman Empire to protect his kingdom, but this time around he comes armed with vampiric powers to get the job done. Luke Evans dons the mantle of Dracula while Dominic Cooper plays the Ottoman tyrant Sultan Mehmed II.
