Word is out that there’s a new animated film coming from Disney in a couple of years everyone! Moana is the company’s second film that’s scheduled to arrive in 2016, after Zootopia.
As you can tell, Moana is a girl who will be the main character in the upcoming movie. From the very first artwork revealed, which can be seen above, you can tell it’s pretty much sea-oriented and island-flavored. However, we could leave the assumptions to the side, as the official synopsis is also out. Give it a look:
In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.
The hand-drawn/computer animated film will be directed by Ron Clements and John Musker (Aladdin, The Little Mermaid). When the duo was asked to comment on the film, they called it a ” great thrill” to have in their back catalog. An official release date for Moana has yet to be announced, but November 23, 2016 is the expected one at this point.
