Joni Mitchell Rejected Taylor Swift-Starring Biopic

Back in the day, Taylor Swift was cast to play Joni Mitchell in a biopic, but it seems the folk sensation wasn’t really happy with the idea and scrapped it.

Back in the day, Taylor Swift was supposed to star in a biopic for the well-known folk songstress, Joni Mitchell. However, the idea was eventually scrapped and the legendary songstress now reveals it was her who rejected it.

The film Girls Like Us, based on Sheila Weller’s book of the same name was supposed to emphasize on Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon. Taylor Swift was eyed to play Mitchell, but she had made clear at the time that nothing was to be taken for certain. The folk sensation explained the reasons why the idea was left on the shelf and her reasons to do so, saying:

“I squelched that! I said to the producer, ‘All you’ve got is a girl with high cheekbones’. It’s just a lot of gossip, you don’t have the great scenes. There’s a lot of nonsense about me in books – assumptions, assumptions, assumptions.”

As it turns out, Mitchell was the one to not give the film the green light and she doesn’t seem to be regretful of her choices. We here at PopWrapped can’t judge Taylor Swift’s acting, but we know for certain that there is a striking resemblance and she could most possibly pull off the role in terms of looks.
