Jennifer Aniston Almost Didn’t Play Rachel Green In ‘Friends’

Jennifer Aniston rose to fame mostly thanks to her role in everyone and their mothers’ favorite sitcom, Friends, but she was almost out of it!

Jennifer Aniston rose to fame mostly thanks to her role in everyone and their mothers’ favorite sitcom, Friends. Her character, Rachel Green, even inspired a haircut which is known to this day as “The Rachel”! However, the well-known actress revealed she was almost out of the show.

At the time Friends came by in Jennifer Aniston’s life, she already had a part in another CBS sitcom. Considering the group shots required for the former, it’s understandable that her schedule was pretty busy. Therefore, the producers were considering a recast for Rachel Green. Thank God it didn’t happen, but here’s what the actress had to say on the incident:

“Friends came when I was off doing Muddling Through. So there was a period where I had to stand out of the photographs for the group shots, and I had phone calls from girlfriends saying, ‘I’m auditioning for your part in Friends.’ They just took the chance that Muddling Through would fail after the ten episodes they picked it up for, and so I just started doing this back-and-forth from Sony to Warner Bros for two weeks.”

She also went further to comment on another Friends issue, that of Courtney Cox being eyed to play Rachel Green. However, Jennifer Aniston had a strong desire for that part, while Cox intended to play Monica Geller all along. Well, the two of them obviously knew better than the producers, didn’t they?

Can you even think of liking anyone else playing Rachel? Or can you imagine Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox switching roles? Leave a comment below and let us know.
