On her MSNBC show, So Popular, Janet Mock sat with actress and writer Issa Rae to discuss her new, best-selling book, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. The book, of course, is based on the popular web series that not only garnered millions of viewers and fans, but shot Rae into stardom and onto Pharrell’s radar.

The book is out now and just made the New York Times bestseller list. In the sit-down, Rae says that writing the book was therapeutic and reminisces about the days of AOL chat rooms.
