The Fantastic Four’s costume stills have arrived and they’re not quite what you’re expecting. The new costumes are a far cry from being blue spandex suits like the 2005 version, starring Chris Evan, Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis. Instead, the newer costumes feature an all black jumpsuit-looking ensemble that makes them look like kick-ass Special Ops Operatives. The newly-released images, shown below, showcase Sue Storm (Kate Mara), Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan), Reed Richards (Miles Teller) and Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) who doesn’t appear in costume in his featured picture.
At first glance, the costumes reminded me a tad of Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman get-up (just a little bit). Overall, I surprisingly like the simplistic and contemporary turn in the costumes, but I do miss the silver 4 that was present in the comics and the 2005 film version. The 2005 Fantastic Four remained mostly faithful to the comics costume, but I look forward to seeing how the reboot plays out.
