Karen Gillan Included In HBO’s ‘The Devil You Know’ Casting Additions

HBO’s upcoming, Salem Witch Trials-themed drama, ‘The Devil You Know’, has recently made some casting additions and Karen Gillan is one of them.

Karen Gillan will once again be gracing our screens with her electric and charming presence. The Doctor Who alum (also former Selfie queen and Guardians of the Galaxy bad-ass Nebula ) has joined the Salem Witch Trial-based HBO drama The Devil You Know. The other actors joining Gillan are  Matthew James Thomas, Will Pullen, Kate Nash, Julian Rhind Tutt, Hannah Nordberg, Zawe Ashton, Seana Kofoed, Nigel Lindsay, Ever Carradine and Naian Gonzalez Norvind. Eddie Izzard, Nadia Alexander and Ismenia Mendes were announced earlier this month. This historic drama clearly has a large (ensemble) cast, much like HBO’s other series, such as Game of Thrones and True Blood.

The Devil You Know will explore the mysteries and circumstances surrounding the Salem Witch Trials that took place in the 17th century in New England, which brought on an era of injustice, suspicion and horror. It turned neighbor against neighbor and pumped paranoia up to an all new high, all negative aspects that will be brought to life in The Devil You Know. The series’ pilot script will be handled by Bruce Miller (The 100), Jenjo Kohan (Orange is the New Black) and Tracey Miller. This show definitely rests in good and capable hands.

Karen Gillan’s return to TV is a much needed one considering her show Selfie (an extremely underrated series) was cancelled last year. We all need more of Miss Gillan, who is mostly recognized as the girl who waited, aka Amelia Pond (Doctor Who). The actress possess a certain charm and flare that’s missing in a lot of television series. She’s a great addition to The Devil You Know and I’m already praying for her characters survival (it’s not like i’m biased or anything…not at all). I look forward to watching The Devil You Know and seeing Karen Gillian light up my screen once more.
