Secret Service Wants To Build A Replica Of The White House For Training Scenarios

The Secret Service, in light of the recent breaches of security at the White House, want to build a replica of the President’s home for training purposes.

Six months ago, an intruder scaled the wrought-iron fence that circumferences the White House, and entered through an unlocked door. He ran around the House until finally tackled by the Secret Service. Immediately, building a higher fence was suggested, but many argue gaps in the President’s security cannot be fixed by simply raising the barrier. The Secret Service partially blames its recent faults on the Service’s improperly-equipped training ground.

Located 20 miles from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., the current training spot is “basically a parking lot,” Director of the Secret Service, Joseph P. Clancy, said. The Secret Service requested to lawmakers for $8 million dollars to build a replica of the White House that will be used to stimulate scenarios. The mock House aims to get Service members intimately familiar with guarding the President’s home, making both the President and our nation safer.
