Stephen King Says Maine Governor Is ‘Full Of It’ With His Tax Accusation

Never shying away from speaking his mind, Stephen King has a thing or two to say about Maine’s Governor LePage… and they aren’t nice.

Famed novelist Stephen King has always had a way with words, but he recently he used the power of the pen, or in this case, the power of the tweet, to call out Maine Governor Paul LePage (R).

Governor LePage accused King of leaving the state of Maine to avoid paying income taxes. Any fan of King’s knows that he not only still lives in the state, but many of his stories are set in Maine. Though King and his wife, novelist Tabitha King, have a home in Florida, they paid about $1.4 million in taxes to Maine in 2013 and are expected to pay the same for their 2014 taxes. King released this statement:

“Governor LePage is full of the stuff that makes the grass grow green. Tabby and I pay every cent of our Maine state income taxes, and are glad to do it. We feel, as Governor LePage apparently does not, that much is owed from those to whom much has been given. We see our taxes as a way of paying back the state that has given us so much. State taxes pay for state services. There’s just no way around it. Governor LePage needs to remember there ain’t no free lunch.”

King also took to Twitter and asked for an apology. As of now, he has not received one.

Governor LePage’s office has made some movements, however, as they recently issues a revised version of the address without the remarks about King.
