For the first time ever, an MLB Opening Night will feature a live performance, and what better way to do it than having a band play for their hometown’s team?
The Chicago Tribune reports that Fall Out Boy will bring in the baseball season at Wrigley Field in Chi-Town next month, singing three songs (“Centuries,” Um Thurman,” and “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em’ Up)”) ahead of the 7 pm game.
Bassist Pete Wentz released a statement, clearly looking forward to the honor: “Wrigley Field has always been a magical place to me. In some ways I can chart milestones of my life and growing up there – from going to see Andre Dawson and Ryne Sandberg play, to going with the my dad to one of the first night games they ever had there, to the first time I took the ‘EL’ there on my own for a game with my friends.”
If you can’t be there for the event, it’ll be available in a nationwide broadcast on ESPN2’s Baseball Tonight starting at 6 pm EST.
The season kicks off on April 5, with the Chicago Cubs vs the St. Louis Cardinals.
