Chris Christie Calls For Raising Social Secuirty Age Requirement

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has continued hinting that he is in fact interested in a presidential bid by proposing a 12-point plan in New Hampshire.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has continued to hint that he is absolutely interested in a presidential bid. Christie has proposed a 12-point plan in New Hampshire that will not only raise the retirement age for Social Security benefits to 69 starting in 2022, but also include an income-cap on Social Security benefits. However, Christie did mention that it would be phased out for those making over $200,000 a year.

“I have been talking about the growth of entitlements as a big problem, at both the state and federal levels, for a number of years, and not because it is politically popular, but because it is true,” Christie said. “And because it will affect everything we can do as a country to make this century the second American century. I will not pander. I will not flip flop. I am not afraid to tell you the truth as I see it. Whether you like it or not.”

Christie adds that the plan would save the federal government $1 trillion over a decade long period.

While he is no longer being seen as a GOP frontrunner, he cannot be scratched out as a big influence in the ever-changing 2016 election race.
