Aca-scuse me?! Yup! You heard right! Our favorite girl power, music loving Barden Bellas will be coming back for a trilogy.
After the immense success of Pitch Perfect 2, it didn’t take long for Universal and Gold Circle to notice they have a money making juggernaut on their hands. After grossing 160.9 million dollars (and still growing), they have announced plans for Pitch Perfect 3.
Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two movies, is already in talks to write the next story for our pitches. No word yet if Elizabeth Banks plans to return, who has invested a lot in the franchise being a producer, director and co-star within the first two movies.
It is hard to say what another sequel would focus on, now that the majority of the main group of Bellas are graduating. So far there has been no mention of which characters we could see returning. Fan favorites Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson have grown in popularity since the first film, and it could be a challenge to bring them back to the screen for another sequel.
However, newest member of the group, Hailee Steinfeld, would be most likely expected to return. (I personally would love to see the comeback of Das Sound Machine’s Flula Borg, bitte und danke!) Regardless of casting, there is one thing another movie can promise us, and that is another hit soundtrack.
So don’t pack up your plastic cups yet, fans; there are more mash ups and a capella covers coming your way!
