Game of Thrones Breaks A Record With the Season Five Finale

HBO series Game of Thrones breaks its previous record with its season five finale, scoring with over 8.1 million viewers, up from last years finale at 7.1.

The numbers are out, and the Game of Thrones season five finale scored the highest number of viewers EVER. Though we lost a fan favorite, the network scored big time with more than 8.1 million viewers, according to data from Nielsen. The season five premiere of Game of Thrones held the previous record with 8 million viewers.

To bring even more good news to the team at HBO, the viewership of the season five finale was about a million more than the season four finale, which was watched by about 7.1 million viewers. On top of this, the television show was the number one most-watched show of the entire night.

What do these numbers prove? They show that genre series such as Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, which brought in 15.8 million viewers during its sixth season finale,  can surpass expectations and attract a variety of different viewers.
