New Zealand-based singer/songwriter Denelle has used his pop/R&B sound for an inspiring purpose with his latest single, “Imperfectly Perfect.”
The music video features girls and women from various backgrounds embracing their natural selves, opting to take professional photographs without makeup. Combined with Denelle’s heartfelt vocals, which feel as if they’re directed towards every woman in that video, the effect blends well with a message of self-acceptance that has recently been gaining ground in public discussion.
The musician notes Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, and Trey Songz as his inspirations, and that’s not up for debate; this song is reminiscent of the R&B hits that broke those three superstars into the music scene in their early days.
