Live-Action Attack On Titan Heading To U.S. Courtesy Of Funimation

The live-action Attack on Titan film is heading to the U.S. courtesy of Funimation, just announced on Monday!

It’s no surprise that The Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin franchise has made it big in the United States and now it’s time for the live-action films to get there chance to shine alongside the massively popular manga and anime series. That’s right! The live-action Attack On Titan films are heading to the U.S. courtesy of Funimation.

On Monday, Funimation Entertainment revealed that it has licensed the Attack on Titan live-action films for North, South and Central America; this means Funimation has acquired rights to the films theatrical release, home-video distribution, video on demand and broadcasting.

Along with that piece of exciting news, Funimation also announced that they’ll be hosting the world premiere of the first Attack on Titan live action film in Los Angeles at the Egyptian Theater on July 14th (fingers crossed I get the chance to go!) Much like Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’,  Attack on Titan will premiere in LA first before making it’s debut in Japan on August 1st with the 2nd film opening on September 19th.

The Los Angeles premiere will also welcome the film’s director Shinji Higuchi, actors Haruma Miura (Eren) and  Kiko Mizuhara (Mikasa). Higuchi is set to make an appearance at not just the premiere, but at the San Diego Comic-Con as well which is from July 9th to the 12th.

Ever since the films were first announced, I was hoping Funimation would bring them over. My wish has at last come true! As a die-hard Attack on Titan fan, I can’t wait to see how the films differ from the anime and manga and how they stand-out on there own. I am apprehensive, but more than willing to give the films a shot. Oh Funimation, I thank you for this glorious news!
