Whenever the Great Barrier Reef is in the news, it’s usually for something horrible. But this time, it’s quite beautiful.
In pictures that look like something from Finding Nemo, a small Go-Pro camera was recently affixed to the shell of a turtle!
The footage from WWF is used to understand turtles and also highlight what needs to be done to save the underwater environment.
The video’s release is just ahead of UNESCO’s vote to keep pressuring Australia to deliver on its promise of taking action to protect the reef, according to the WWF website.
The Australian government has until 2019 to show that the Great Barrier Reef is healthier, or else it will be put on the “In-danger” list in 2020 and, considering almost 6000 species call it home, perhaps we could all do more to help it.
