Looks like Chris Brown is in trouble with the law again.
The best-selling recording artist was prevented from leaving the Philippines Wednesday morning , when the Philippine Department of Justice issued a lookout bulletin. He was already about to depart in a private plane to Hong Kong when authorities stopped him.
Brown was in the Philippines to perform at a concert at the Mall of Asia Arena the night before. The show went through as planned but the order was then issued due to a complaint filed by the influential Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ), a local Christian sect.
In the complaint, the sect had alleged that Brown defrauded them by failing to appear in a scheduled New Year’s Eve concert at the Philippine Arena, which the sect owns.
Chris Brown was meant to perform as the first major musical act in the venue, which currently holds the record for being the world’s largest indoor arena.
The Philippine Bureau of Immigration of Authority clarified, though, that a lookout bulletin does not have the same bite as a hold departure order, and that Brown only requires a government clearance to leave, and he has to gain the consent of the Department of Justice first.
